My first semester of college was like a roller coaster ride. I experienced many bumps, hills, and stomach dropping moments. But at the end of the ride I would love to experience it all over again. My first semester was unforgettable, I learned so much in such a short period of time. But it was very difficult moving away from home and everything I have ever known. I think thats were flexibility comes into play. You have to flexible to move out of you’re comfort zone and embrace all the knowledge you could possibly can absorb. I find alertness to be the biggest component of success. I had to be alert in my classes, I could not just show up and absorb all the information into my brain. As much as we wish that could be possible. I also think to be successful in college you need to have determination. College isn't easy, if you are not determined to get your work done then you will never prosper not only in college but life. Other key components for a successful journey in college are effective reading, writing and listening. If you can not master those three components you will struggle not only in college but everyday in society. Effective reading, writing and listening are all forms of communication and learning. As many students dread and complain about first year writing courses in college they are meant to teach us how to effectively listen, read and write because we do not acquire these skills well enough in high school to be successful in college.
